Problem Note 43786: Grammar files for the USERPROC procedure are truncated and parsing errors occur

DetailsAboutRate It

Grammar files for PROC USERPROC that are more than 80 characters might be truncated during processing, leading to errors. You might see messages similar to the following:

postproc: no parse tables were generated
postproc: aborted

The problem occurs when PROC USERPROC copies the grammar file to a temporary utility file and truncates the lines at 80 characters. Grammar lines that exceed 80 characters might look similar to this example:

VARSTMT =
    @STMTPROC
    @STMTLIST(13,1) "VARK" (ONEVAR (("/" ONEVAR @LISTVAL(6,1)) | @LISTVAL(6,0)))+

To avoid this problem, make sure that grammar statements do not exceed 80 characters on any given line. For example, to correct the previous statement, use this instead:

VARSTMT =
    @STMTPROC
    @STMTLIST(13,1) "VARK"
     (ONEVAR (("/" ONEVAR @LISTVAL(6,1)) | @LISTVAL(6,0)))+

A fix for this issue is planned for a future software release.
